Step 2 (Exploration of Input Data)

1) Make a copy of existing (pre arranged) Excel file named “LS-Full-Generator-Base-Program-Acad-2005” to the required path and rename it as per the File Naming Procedure of the company.

2) Open the Excel file to feed the required Input Data.

3) In the Chainage column enter all the chainages including the chainages of the structures starting from row number 3.

4) In the G.L. column enter all the ground levels for the respective chainages.

5) In the C.B.L. column the values of C.B.L. for respective chainages are to be worked out using following formula.

C.B.L = Previous C.B.L – (Distance from previous chainage x Surface fall)

Note:
When ever loss of head occurs due to the proposed structures at any predetermined chainages, an additional C.B.L. is to be calculated by applying the above said standard equation and head loss due to corresponding structure. Head loss factors are to be collected from the design department.

C.B.L (At Structure) = Previous C.B.L – {(Distance from previous chainage x Surface fall + Head loss)}

6) In the F.S.L column the values of F.S.L for the respective chainages are to be worked out by adding Full Supply Depth (F.S.D) at the respective chainage to the C.B.L.

Full Supply Level (F.S.L) = C.B.L. + F.S.D.

7) In the T.B.L column the values of T.B.L for the respective chainages are to be worked out by adding Free Board at the respective chainage to the F.S.L.

Top Banking Level (T.B.L) = F.S.L + Free Board.

8) In the HOC column the values of Height of Banking at the respective chainages are to be worked out using following formula.

Height of Banking = if(T.B.L – G.L > 0 , T.B.L – G.L, 0.0)

9) In the DOC column the values of Depth of Cutting at the respective chainages are to be worked out using following formula.

Depth of Cutting = if(G.L – C.B.L > 0 , G.L – C.B.L , 0.0)

10) In the columns of Description of Structures the columns respective to chainages of structures are to be filled by the description regarding those structures.

The description of structures shall include the Chainage of the structure, Type of structure, Catchment Area (C.A), Maximum Flood Discharge (M.F.D), Deepest Bed Level and Observed Maximum Flood Level (O.M.F.L) in case of drains and Name of the Road, Road Crest Level (R.C.L), Road Width & Type of Road in case of Roads.
